Paralegal Specialist

A Paralegal Specialist helps lawyers prepare for trial and perform research as needed. They also analyze legal materials, maintain reference files, conduct research for attorneys, collect and analyze evidence for hearings, and prepare supporting documents.

Paralegal specialists can file forms, conduct legal esearch, and prepare documents. Paralegals may also specialize in real estate, estate planning, family law, labor law, litigation and corporate law.

During the 12 months of paralegal training, students will cover areas such as accounting,undefined business psychology, word processing, personal property law, legal research and writing, ethics, and other areas of law.

Once paralegal training is completed, students are scheduled for an externship in a legal office or related setting to gain real-world experience.

Eligible students who complete the program can typically find paralegal jobs in many federal government agencies (Department of Justice, Treasury, Interior, Health and Human Services, and General Service Administration).

Criminal Justice

The criminal justice program provides students with a solid foundation in corrections, law enforcement, and court systems. This plegal assistantrogram is designed to prepare students with key knowledge and abilities in criminal justice and juvenile justice processes, criminology, law enforcement, law adjudication and corrections.

The primary goal of this program is to give students the preparation necessary to become qualified criminal justice professionals in the field.
